Fan cuts. You may have seen them on athletes. Mexican midfielder Efrain Juarez had the distinctive criss-cross pattern in bright blue on his knee during the CONCACAF World Cup regional qualifying matches in June. Therapists and trainers use them for a variety of medical taping purposes.

“Fan” taping is used for lymphatic draining and to treat swelling (edema) and bruising: any condition that calls for increased circulation of blood and lymphatic fluid. Now two of the popular sizes of fan tapes are available in pre-cut form.

Fan cuts will be available in two convenient sizes. The smaller size is 5 cm wide and comes pre-cut into five separate tape tails. This size comes in all four easily-recognizeable Kinesio Tex tape colors of beige, black, blue and pink.

The larger size, 8 cm wide and cut into eight tape tails, is available only in beige. Both sizes come cut to a 30 cm (12”) length that may be cut down for specific patient taping.   Either size may be purchased in boxes of 50.
